As foretold in June—when a new owner was non-committal about potential changes—Dean’s Restaurant & Pizzeria on Greenwich Street has closed. (The photo above is from happier days.)

The new tenant, as close readers realized in January, will presumably be Hawaii Cupcake Factory. When word of HCF leaked back then, the plans were for a restaurant and bakery. The company’s website has since mostly been scrubbed of non-bakery mentions—except for two slogans (“Not Just Another Cupcake Store… A Fine Dining Experience” and “Where Food & Desserts Collide to create explosions in Your Mouth”).

Time will tell….
