Seen & Heard: Juice Press Is Open

••• I enjoyed the show by artist DAIN (whose posters are often spotted around Tribeca) at Folioleaf in Dumbo—and I was pleased to discover that the proprietor is Todd Masters, who had been at Masters & Pelavin on Jay. While we ere chatting, he said his next show would be by Tribeca’s own Robert Janz.

••• The Loopy Doopy rooftop bar at the Conrad New York is open.

••• Juice Press opened today (on Greenwich).

••• Daruma-Ya started serving lunch today.

••• The July 4 fireworks will be on the East River this year, according to an email from State Senator Daniel Squadron.

••• El Vez looks like it’ll open any day now—they’re being cagey, presumably because they want a soft opening. If you see anything, let me know.

••• I’ve only just noticed this, but I imagine it’s been happening for a while. The FDNY is allowed to double park on Duane?

  1. Firemen throughout the city have always been able to double park, park at hydrants, pretty much wherever they want close by the firehouse. They can also ticket anyone else who does it saying it is a safety hazard impeding their ability to get the trucks out.

  2. Mmm. Are there 2 Juice Press-s opening in the hood. ‘Cause I just passed e one off Greenwich on Warren and it decidedly was *NOT* open for business as windows were covered top to bottom in craft paper.

  3. Regarding the double parking on Duane. I live on one of those buildings in the picture and the firemen also drive on that sidewalk (due to their double parking). Once, I was coming out of my building with my daughter and a car zoomed right by us on the sidewalk! My friend’s daughter has also almost been hit on that same sidewalk. I like living very close to the firestation but I just wish they would be more careful.
