Seen & Heard: Tribeca Is Getting a Karaoke Bar

••• The word on the street is that Gunbae, applying for a liquor license for 67 Murray (formerly Lilly O’Briens), will be Korean barbecue on the ground floor and karaoke downstairs. On one hand, do people still do karaoke? On the other hand, I need to polish my spoken-word interpretation of “Hot in Herre.” (It kills.) To learn more about Gunbae’s plans—and/or express reservations about whether beer-saturated Murray can handle it, attend the meeting of Community Board 1’s Tribeca Committee on Sept. 10.

••• Something is finally happening in the old Moomah space at 161 Hudson. Anyone know what? I’m at tribecacitizen@gmail.com or 917-209-6473.

161 Hudson••• The Battery Park City Block Party is Sept. 27, which gives you plenty of time to practice your act for the talent show. Email Vicki Winters at me@vickiwinters.com to reserve your slot. Related: I’ll be needing back-up dancers for “Hot in Herre,” if you know how to work a pole.

BPC block party••• “Decolonized Skies” opens Sept. 10 at Apexart: “Since the invention of aerial photography, the sky above our heads has become a territory subjected to militarized conflicts. The featured collaborative projects seek ways to use technology to re-appropriate the sky and reclaim the view from above.”

  1. Eric, perhaps you can practice your spoken word interpretation at the Battery Park city block party talent show.
