In the News: Chambers Construction Update

••• “The long-awaited West Thames pedestrian bridge”—over West Street—”is now one step closer to completing its years-long planning process.” The bridge will still have a canopy over it, but the staircases flanking it will not. (You can see the staircase canopies in the old rendering above.) —Broadsheet

••• A New York Post article about road construction in New York City touched on the Chambers reconstruction project: “The work between Broadway and West Street was slated to end in 2013 but is now facing a spring 2015 completion.” (The DDC has long said it might be mostly done in 2014 with some final paving once the winter is over, but maybe this is worse than that? I just left a message to see if I can get some clarification.)

••• The Human Rights Campaign released its annual Corporate Equality Index, based on how businesses treat their LGBT employees; please think twice before spending your money at Bed Bath & Beyond, Brooks Brothers, or—alas—Regal Cinemas. —Towleroad

••• A martial arts studio, Warrior Bridge, is opening in the Seaport with classes in “aikido, jiujitsu, tai chi, Ashtanga yoga and meditation.” —DNAinfo
