Greenwich Street Restaurant Gets OKed

Ponte Equities’s plan to convert the garage at 456 Greenwich (at Desbrosses) into a restaurant—to go with the possibly white, definitely 11-story hotel behind it at 443-445 Washington—was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, according to Curbed. (The previous design, for a white building and a large wall, had been rejected.) The architect “dramatically lowered the wall around the garden, eliminated the canopy, redesigned the windows, and, most importantly, changed the material from white to red masonry. To add to the industrial look of the structure, the windows now feature exterior roll-down gates.”

Of note: The white hotel that was in the previous round of renderings has been changed to a gray placeholder (as you can see in the rendering above right).
