February 27, 2015 Restaurant/Bar News
As expected—especially given yesterday’s news about the 19-story condominium going up there—Cafe Boca Ciega has closed. The note on Facebook:
To all our family, friends and neighbors, we regretfully have to inform you that we will be closing this location for the time being. We wholeheartedly thank you for all your support within the last year. We will deeply miss serving you what we think is the best coffee in New York City. You can still purchase our roast by contacting us via our website www.cafebocaciega.com. Please continue to follow us on Instagram for future location updates. Have a great and wonderful day New York!
The Cuban café opened a year ago, nearly to the day, quickly becoming popular with east Tribecans. The baristas posted entertaining pix of patrons on Instagram—here are a few recent ones.

I hope they return to the hood, great coffee nice guys and another neighborhood loss for more lux condos.
A real shame! They served great coffee and gave the block some independent spirit.
I hope they find a new local home soon! What about inside The Supermarket, or maybe at the front of the forthcoming Gourmet Garage?
Hope they spring up somewhere else in the area … they had something going for them … GOOD coffee with intense flavor and different snacks/pastries
