Seen & Heard: North End Grill’s Outdoor Bar

••• I got some clarity (the hard way) about North End Grill’s summer plans. The idea is to make an outdoor bar in the storage room that’s between the bar and the dining room.

••• Additional info about Northern Tiger, opening Wednesday, from a press release: “Northern Tiger will feature Kombucha Brooklyn kombucha on tap, as well as a rotating local draft beer. Dessert will be soft serve ice cream, with different weekly creative flavors like Strawberry & Sichuan Peppercorn or Ovaltine.” What with El Vez Burritos’s soft-serve, Battery Park City is positively awash in the stuff.

••• From Community Board 1: “Affordable Housing Report for Lower Manhattan (Update Summary) has been posted to the Community Board 1 website under the section Studies & Reports. This document is a summarized update of the original 2011 report containing an inventory on current affordable housing in Lower Manhattan and can be accessed through this link [PDF].”

••• Mondays at midnight at Belle Reve: an open mic poetry/music night called Love Letters to Dead Poets. From the release: “It’s pretty much a meeting of Poets Anonymous—words are our crack cocaine! We believe that everyone is a poet in whatever form. If you can’t write poetry, then be the poem. We try to live poetically, regardless of whether we’re writing or not.” I popped into Belle Reve the other night. It has a very appealing vibe. Full report to come.

••• Press release: “On World Water Day this year, Warburg Realty will be setting up a 20-foot long catwalk on the sidewalks outside their Tribeca and Upper West Side offices where participants will be invited to carry a jerry can of water from one end of the carpet to the other. The 20-foot walk symbolizes the 20-mile distance some families must travel in order to find clean, safe drinking water. For every person that carries a can, Warburg will make a donation (up to $10,000) to charity: water, a non-profit organization committed to aiding in the clean water crisis affecting the developing world.” World Water Day is March 22, in case you didn’t already have it in your calendar, and the Tribeca office’s catwalk will be open from from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
