Seen & Heard: Tribeca Pizzeria’s Final Weeks

••• Tribeca Pizzeria on Greenwich will close at the end of the month (this time it’s for real). They told me the landlord wants $60,000 a month.

••• M.M. De Voe of Pen Parentis points out that the Diner at 75 Nassau has closed. UPDATE: BobDaBuilder points out that a 40-story tower is being built on that site.

••• Hateful fast-food brand Chick-fil-A was filming something at Greenwich and Canal yesterday—they had set up crappy vendors like the ones on the Brooklyn Bridge, which gave me pause for a second.

••• The Concepts sneakerhead store on Hudson, above Canal, appears to have closed for good. Dang, they put a lot of effort into something so temporary.

Concepts••• On the same block, the huge Related rental building at 261 Hudson—it goes through to Renwick—is at (or approaching) ground level. When done, it’ll have 160 market-rate apartments and 41 affordable ones. Rendering here.

  1. I doubt Denny’s was a threat – I’d expect them to close before The Diner. This was my go to pancake place!

  2. The closing of The Diner leaves Pearl Street Diner at 212 Pearl Street a block away from Fulton and Water Streets as the only (real) diner left in the FiDi. PSD is also one of only five standalone diners left in Manhattan, the other four being Square Diner, Market Diner, Hector’s Cafe, and Star 18, maybe six total standalones if Empire Diner is still around.)

I agree that Denny’s wasn’t a threat and how could it be one since it just opened a few months ago and The Diner opened several years ago? The Diner was ill-fated from the start. Nassau Street is a ridiculously underused, random strip of shit from Maiden Lane to Spruce Street. It’s dead 24-7-365 save Nassau Bar the dive with bikini clad waitresses. It’s a ghost town after 7pm weekdays and on the weekends.
