••• The helicopter flyover scheduled for Tuesday is now happening today around 1:30 p.m.
••• Be still my heart! The big trenches at Chambers and Church have been filled in. Could the Chambers reconstruction project’s final paving be happening soon?
••• From the FDNY: “We’re celebrating our 150th anniversary with an afternoon of open houses on Saturday, May 2. Take a tour, pick up fire safety education literature, learn more about careers in the FDNY, and meet your local firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs.” The hours are 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at 14 N. Moore, 100 Duane, and 42 South St., and 1 p.m.–3 p.m. at 49 Beekman and 124 Liberty.
••• Signs have been posted in the Warren/W. Broadway vicinity for “Mr. Robot,” a USA Network show shooting Monday. From IMDB: “Follows a mysterious anarchist who recruits a young computer programmer who suffers from an anti-social disorder and connects to people by hacking them.”
••• Architect Robert A.M. Stern visited the 268 West site to inspect the façade samples. Thanks to Yves Seban for the photo.
••• “Generally, when you see lifts being removed from a garage, it only means one thing…” emails Robert Ripps. Which is true! But I don’t think the one at 56 N. Moore is being converted (yet, at least). The DOB filings show the installation of floor drains, which seems a likely reason to remove the lifts.
••• From Friends of Washington Market Park: “We’re once again providing free children’s tennis clinics (for ages 7-10) at the courts on Chambers. Every Tuesday in May and June, with June 30 as a rain date. Sign-up is first come, first serve (up to 20 students per class). For more information please see our website.” The clinics are put on by Super Duper Tennis.
••• The plywood is down and signage is up at V Bar Seaport (at the corner of Front and Beekman). “Interiors like about 70 percent done,” says the tipster who sent these pix.

Yup….the traffic should once again start flowing freely in al lanes on Church St once again……for about a week until they begin demolishing the building between Warren and Chambers!
What building is going down?
149-151 Church (the east side between Chambers and Warren); the new building will be 12 stories. https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2014/09/29/in-the-news-kale-party/
Hi Erik and BobR, do you know when they are going to begin demolishing 149-151 Church ?
Also did you happen to see a sketch what the new 12-story building will look like? Thanks!
Carlo
I’d guess they’re just waiting for the Chambers roadwork to be done. No renderings yet that I’ve seen
