An Update on the Dean’s Space
Remember how I floated the possibility that celebrity chef Tyler Florence might be opening a branch of his San Francisco restaurant, Wayfare Tavern, in the old Dean’s space on Greenwich? The Wayfare Tavern folks categorically deny it, suggesting instead that it might be the Wayfarer on W. 57th St. So I called them—and the person I spoke with said they couldn’t comment in a way that made it very much sound like it is indeed them. (“Management been given any specifics or anything like that.”)
The Wayfarer is an all-day restaurant; there’s even jazz on Monday night. I can’t pull the Wayfarer’s menu to post, but here are the dinner entrées and pix of the interior. It looks swish.

It would seem to me that what used to be “Dean’s” is too big a space for a pricier restaurant like this menu indicates. I can’t imagine this being a family place. And how else are they going to fill all those tables?
