••• I hear North End Grill’s outdoor bar could open next week. Thanks to the reader who sent in this pic.
••• Fans of old-school custom T-shirts will want to know about this service at 358 Broadway.
••• When I was talking to the folks at Baxter & Liebchen, the antique Scandinavian furniture shop that recently moved to Laight Street (NKOTB post to come one of these days), owner Andrew Kevelson said that the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet is taking his old space at 33 Jay in DUMBO. Kirkland’s school is being forced out of its second-story studio at 355 Broadway because the building is being torn down.
••• From a comment by Hal Bromm about the BMCC pool, which has been closed for renovation for two years: “A site visit this week found two staffers who both advised they were told the pool would reopen in the fall. Time will tell.” (Indeed. The original notification to community swimmers about the closing said the work would take three months.)
••• A reader update on Collect Pond Park: “The eponymous pond has made a comeback of sorts due to the recent rains. But that inch or so of water doesn’t seem to drain properly (or at all) so it quickly becomes unsightly and, well, smelly. But someone in in nearby buildings who knows how to get things done must like the look of actual water in the artificial ponds because Dr. Playground was on the scene using jury-rigged hoses to tap a nearby hydrant.”
••• A reader sends in word that the Milk + Honey kosher deli has put up signage at 160 Broadway. The phrase “food bar” takes me back to Chelsea in the 90s….
