I just heard that the city has rented the space in 40 Worth, at the southeast corner of W. Broadway, for a pre-kindergarten facility. It may not be a 100% done deal yet…. Not sure if this is part of the new wave of pre-K seats announced last spring. “More than 350 new pre-kindergarten seats are coming to Lower Manhattan, starting in the fall of this year,” reported the Broadsheet in March. “The total of 378 seats (198 of which are permanent, and 180 temporary) comprise a 17 percent share of the 2,202 new seats being created in all of Manhattan. […] These seats will be spread among five locations.” Those locations were listed as Peck Slip School, Tweed Courthouse, 2 Lafayette St., and 2 Washington St.—which is actually only four locations, so maybe that’s meaningful.
