••• The metal canopy on the Greenwich Street side of the Sterling Mason is really deep—it hangs over the entire sidewalk.
••• Hudson River filed a Brookfield Place update: “The storefronts have been uncovered for Gucci, with ‘coming soon’ on it. I think Brookstone is open (it was after closing time when I was walking through) and it doesn’t look like they’ve done much since Posman moved out and it doesn’t appear on their interactive list so maybe it’s a pop-up. A futuristic Santa space is happening across from the Club Monaco men’s store on the second floor. There are some new places that look like pop-ups for the holidays—a florist, a newsstand, and a candy place that said they are moving into the Westfield Mall at the WTC in March (as if). And they’re finally painting the corroded ceiling over the escalators to the concourse.”
••• “The fire on Worth Street was in a dumpster filled with electronics waste—old computer monitors, etc.,” commented Will. “Hence all that acrid smoke. I was walking past and called it in to 911. A few minutes later some cops arrived. By then I was heading into Chinatown for dumplings, but I heard sirens, so I’m assuming the FDNY got there soon after.”
••• From P.S. 234: “This Wednesday, Dec. 2, is a screening of The Mask You Live In (6-8:30 p.m.) in the auditorium. Join us for an important film highlighting the emotionally stifling messages boys in our society receive about what it means to ‘be a man.’ Following the film will be a conversation facilitated by Samuel Fasulo, PhD. This event is open to the community, but is for adults only.” I’m waiting to hear if it’s free. UPDATE: It is.
••• Buried in the post about the Performa festival was word that a gallery is taking the 47 Walker space. If you know anything about which gallery it might be, I’m at tribecacitizen@gmail.com or 917-209-6473.
Take a look at The New Stand in Brookfield. Stopped in yesterday, and found out it is another outpost of this: http://www.wired.com/2015/11/the-new-stand-is-an-underground-bodega-for-the-modern-commuter/
