In the News: Alleged Shoplifter Escapes Police Custody (and Handcuffs)

••• Barry Tune, “a 20-year-old handcuffed shoplifter who jumped out of a marked police vehicle in Tribeca and fled into a subway tunnel, setting off an NYPD manhunt, was caught early Friday, ” reported the Daily News (but DNAinfo says his name was Magsayo Cruz…?) “Tune managed to get out the cuffs after escaping, the source said. Tune is the seventh prisoner since June to escape and leave cops red-faced.” ABC7NY tweeted that two officers have been suspended as a result.

  1. LOL @ two cops for failing Handcuffing 101.

TriBeCa has to have the most incompetent, lazy police precinct in the city. No cops walking the beat or cruising around. They don’t do shit around here. They’re a joke.

I think the First Precinct is where they send all the cops who can’t hack it in more dangerous areas.
