As noted the other day, Raccoon Lodge is celebrated its 34th anniversary on Saturday night. I went in beforehand and asked if the “one last stand” on the poster meant the end was near. “We’re month to month at this point,” was the response. “I’d be surprised if we get another month.”

Then again, perhaps someone at Cape Advisors, the developer of the red area in the above map, has a taste for grit. The rumor is that the company is letting the New York Dolls strip club on Murray stay put for at least six more months. Moreover, word on the street is that New York Dolls might be moving into Remix, the club at 27 Park Place. I’m not sure whether New York Dolls needs much in the way of city or state approval for the relocation; Remix already has a cabaret license. Remix has entrances at 24 Murray and 27 Park Place, but neighbors have forced the club to use Murray Street only for emergencies, which leaves just the Park Place one—across the street from the new Four Seasons hotel/condo tower at 30 Park Place.
