Seen & Heard: Downtown’s Free Museum Night Is Coming Up

••• “Went by the Beekman hotel’s lobby entrance (on Nassau) and it’s really coming along,” reports a reader. “The doors were open and I took a photo but it’s blurry. Looks like the front desk is in, lobby almost completed, etc. Branding on the door.”

The Beekman hotel••• The same reader also says that Pisillo Italian Panini has taken over the former café space next door: “Some delicious (and surprisingly cheap) desserts in there.” I’ll have to check that out….

••• Press release: “The Downtown Culturals Group presents the third annual Night at the Museums, bringing visitors and locals of Lower Manhattan unique experiences at 15 of the area’s most diverse and culturally significant institutions. Night at the Museums takes place on Tuesday, June 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free and many of the sites include special programming and tours.” Click the link to see the participants.

••• June 14 at Weather Up: A party for Tyler Kord’s new cookbook, A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches. It’s $25 but you get a copy of the book and sandwiches by Kord (No. 7 Sub), Jonathan Wu (Fung Tu), and Justin Bazdarich (Speedy Romeo) will be served. Which reminds me: Need to get back to Fung Tu; really enjoyed it last time.

••• Jeffrey at Canal Sound + Light suggested I check out the new Roll & Hill lighting showroom at 3 Mercer, and it is definitely a stunner. From a recent T Magazine item: “Although it is open to the public, Roll & Hill’s showroom is not a retail store—most items are available to order only. But the company’s new line of smaller accessories, including some table lamps, floor lamps and candleholders, will be available for on-site purchase by the end of summer.”
