Seen & Heard: More High-End Sushi

••• More info on the restaurant opening at 69 Leonard, via neighbor David G. Imber. It sounds rather like Sushi Tatsu, the restaurant planned for 175 Franklin. (By the way, having visited several remarkable Tadao Ando buildings while in Japan last week, I have to say that the prospect of the architect designing Sushi Tatsu is exciting indeed.) UPDATE: Oops. Shigeru Ban is doing Sushi Tatsu, not Tadao Ando.

69 Leonard Ichidan note••• The Big Sick shot yesterday in the Cortlandt Alley area. From the Hollywood Reporter: “Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan [star in] the Judd Apatow–produced project,”—still haven’t forgiven him for This Is 40, by the way—which is being directed by Michael Showalter from a script by Nanjiani and his wife Emily Gordon. The story is based off Nanjiani and Gordon’s own relationship as a Pakistani-born man and a American woman. [Ray] Romano and [Holly] Hunter will be playing Kazan’s character’s parents.”

••• The Foundrae jewelry boutique has evidently had second thoughts about 52 Lispenard.

  1. Could not agree more about the ugly benches. Hate this design everywhere I see it. Missed opportunity to do something inviting, enhancing, New York-flavored and nice.
