••• Last night was the meeting of the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee, and instead of one Unofficial Minutes post, I’ve been doing individual posts, because the two new restaurants (Attraversiamo and The Ainsworth) warranted them. Also, I’ve been dreading writing about the discussion about the proposed restaurant at the Sterling Mason from Tom Galis, owner of the Greek. But during that discussion, something unrelated—and very interesting—came up: Galis said that the southernmost storefront on Greenwich is going to be a spa.
••• The working name for the Matt Abramcyk/Akiva Elstein restaurant at 385 Greenwich (where Ivy’s Bistro was) was Belzer. Abramcyk told me that would not be the actual name. Intriguingly, Tribeca Citizen has received relatively many searches for “Belzer” in recent days (although perhaps that name is posted somewhere on site), and there’s an OpenTable placeholder page for Belzer (although that could mean nothing)….
••• Megu opens September 22 at the Dream Downtown hotel in Chelsea, if you’ve been missing it.
••• Chabad of Tribeca is hosting a free Rock the Block party on Reade (Broadway/Church) this Sunday, with pony rides, music, “moon bounce and slides,” face painting, ice cream, cotton candy, and more.
••• While it moves from Greene Street to the Bowery, menswear brand Seize sur Vingt is having an excellent sale (shirts $90, sweaters $60, etc.). It’s at a temporary space at 56 Greene.
••• I need a recommendation for someone who does printing on lightweight canvas tote bags. Please advise: tribecacitizen@gmail.com.
••• Park(ing) Day is tomorrow; that’s when people and organizations take over a parking space. Below: A Facebook message about it. Can’t remember what HR&A is and too busy to look it up.
