A Sister Restaurant for Terra

225 West BroadwayRoberto Passon and Tanya Hira, the couple behind the popular Terra (and several other restaurants around the city), are opening an Italian restaurant across W. Broadway, in the former Butterfly space. Indeed, it will be called Attraversiamo, which means “let’s cross over” in Italian. At last night’s meeting of the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee, Hira explained that the restaurant will be like Terra, but with more of a focus on seafood. The closing hours (1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday) met the committee’s guidelines, but it seemed likely that Attraversiamo won’t stay open that late. The only point of contention was a sidewalk café: Hira said they want a table or two just to make it clear that there’s a restaurant there, but the committee prefers not to approve sidewalk seating until an establishment has been open for a year, or perhaps less in the case of a proprietor with experience in the area.

The sample menu and floor plan are below; the menu was blurry, so don’t blame me for a shoddy photo. As for the floor plan, note how it’s all counter seating and communal seating.

  1. It is the current Terra menu.

    • It’s probably not far from the menus for their other restaurants, either. That’s sort of their MO. (But this may also have been intended as a sample menu, with the final one showing more of a distinction.)
