Seen & Heard: Last Call at New York Dolls

••• The party is nearly over for New York Dolls. Its final night appears to be Sept. 30 (it has been there for 30 years). As you no doubt know, the building is being torn down as part of Cape Advisors’s “W. Broadway Assemblage” development.

new-york-dolls••• Here’s a rendering, sort of, for 111 Washington (at Carlisle). I don’t think we’ve seen it before. UPDATE: “The rendering for 111 Washington is an old one,” says Luis. “The current owners are flipping the property so it is unlikely that this is the design that will be used, though it is likely that it will remain a rental building site.”

111-washington••• I finally made it to the SeaGlass carousel at the Battery yesterday. (I didn’t want to go alone, so I had to wait till a friend would agree to accompany me.) Wow! I never expected it to be so elegant!

SeaGlass carousel••• I’m always intrigued by the idea of a second-floor restaurant, and even more so for one called Tipsy Shanghai. Anyone been?

tipsy-shanghai••• Opening Sept. 27 at the Untitled Space: “Self Reflection, an exhibition of 21 female artists addressing self-portraiture. Using their own bodies as vehicles, the artists featured in Self Reflection contemplate, as both creator and subject, contemporary issues of gender, identity, sexuality, body image, censorship, and self-liberation. Through their own process, be it autobiographical, metaphorical or inspired by performance and impersonation, these artists present visual narratives that interrogate social, cultural and political dialogues. Self-portrayal becomes a means to address the personal as political via self-reflection and reinvention, tackling conventional notions of female image and taboo.”
