skin-laundry-tribeca••• Press release from American Cut: “Our famous ‘off-the-menu’ burger is making a limited time appearance on the menu at the Tribeca location with the launch of the first ever Burger Bar Pop-Up! LDV Hospitality and Chef Marc Forgione will be opening Tribeca’s doors for lunch for the first time to introduce the new concept to the downtown neighborhood. Starting this coming Tuesday, October 18, the menu will be offered Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Signature items include the cult American Cut Burger (8 oz. brisket, short rib, and dry-aged rib-eye patty with bourbon onions and beer cheese); the Competition Burger (5 oz.) with lettuce, tomatoes, Jarlsberg, and secret sauce; and a unique, specialty Burger du Jour. Additional dishes consist of the Soup du Jour, Chopped Salad, and Caesar Salad, with side options of Beef Fat Fries, Tater Tots or Green Salad. For dessert, Burger Bar will be serving a Milk Chocolate Malt Milkshake with homemade candy honeycomb and vanilla whipped cream ($5). Now recognizable slogans such as ‘Beer, Bourbon and Buns,’ ‘Meat on Fleek,’ and ‘Dare to Go Rare’ will be featured on the new Burger Bar employee uniforms. As part of the Burger Bar pop-up, American Cut Tribeca will also launch a Fried Chicken Biscuit with their signature ‘everything’ biscuit.”

american-cut-burger-courtesy-american-cut••• Semsom Eatery, a fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant, is opening soon at 110 Maiden Lane. UPDATE: Apparently the restaurant opened two months ago, but the first I had heard of it was a “housewarming” invitation email yesterday.

I’ve wondered how it was going over with people—she’s entirely complicit in our national nightmare, if you ask me—and then I got an email today from J. “I almost—I mean, I went in, thought better about it and walked out—asked the Blue Mercury folks to remove the Ivanka Trump magazine cover. That would be insane, right?” And pointless, I said. But I went over to take a photo today, and someone had already decided to do something about it by placing a sticker on the window.

  1. Semsom has been open on Maiden Lane for at least two months and word on the street is that it’s quite good.
