What’s New at Brookfield Place

Have you realized that Lower Manhattan has four malls—the Seaport District, Fulton Center, Westfield World Trade Center, and Brookfield Place—running along Fulton Street? It was on my mind because after visiting the WTC mall for yesterday’s update, I had a meeting at Brookfield Place, where there was also news. Never thought I’d be writing about malls so much….

Joie has opened in the pavilion that’s also home to J. Crew and Babesta. From the website of the women’s fashion brand: “Understatedly chic, Joie’s designs are constantly inspired by the Southern California lifestyle and its casual, yet sophisticated way of life. The Joie aesthetic, both modern and timeless in its appeal, draws influence from vintage creations while maintaining a fresh approach to fashion.” This is the brand’s fifth New York City store.

  1. IMO, lower Manhattan has five malls, because I think of SOHO as one big upscale shopping mall.
