Seen & Heard: Bouley’s Delayed Departure

••• Ivan and I got very excited about the sidewalk shed at 101 Warren finally being removed yesterday—but as of this morning, it appears that only the part above the retail entrance was taken down. UPDATE: “Sorry to say that the sidewalk shed isn’t coming down anytime soon,” commented Toni. “The work hasn’t even started on the building and they are now saying April is the start date.”

101-warren-by-ivan••• Tried Lalo last night. It’s definitely the most “downtown” restaurant within walking distance of Tribeca. Some of the food was inventive and delicious, but I think we’ll wait a month or so before going back, in order to let the kitchen get on its feet. And we’ll bring earplugs.

lalo lalo-menu••• The new building at 5 Franklin Place finally got its cobblestoning done. Now maybe it can focus on the Broadway side, which remains a mess.

franklin-place-entrance••• So excited about the Kesté pizzeria/school in the Seaport….

keste-seaportkeste-seaport2••• I was tickled to see the old City Hall subway station show up in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (and we already knew that the Woolworth Building would, but with quite the unexpected interior). Don’t sass me for taking a photo mid-movie: It was the 10:15 a.m. showing yesterday at the iPic in the Seaport, and the only other moviegoers were otherwise occupied.

city-hall-subway-station-in-fantastic-beasts••• Bouley will be open Sunday nights through the end of the year. I asked the rep whether a date had been set for the restaurant’s closing at that location (when announced in June, it was said to be “in a few months”), and the answer was no: “It will definitely be open into the new year and beyond until further notice.”
