••• “I had dinner at Kappo Masa last night and after a brief conversation with one of the waiters I was told Tetsu is currently scheduled to open June 20,” commented Alex. (Tetsu is the restaurant at 78 Leonard.)

••• On a recent visit to Boise (which locals pronounce with a sibilant s, not a z), Adam and I played cornhole, “a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn (or bean bags) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end.” And then we saw it at a fancy hotel in California. I thought it was a Western thing until I came across it on Ann Street, at the W XYZ bar—that space is apparently intentional—inside the Aloft hotel.
••• From June 8 to 11, the New York City Open volleyball tournament will be on Pier 26. General admission is free, or you can pay for a premium experience.
••• The new building at 351-355 Broadway (a.k.a. 91 Leonard) is about halfway to its 20-story height.
