Where in Tribeca…?

Know where this was shot? Say so in the comments. (I think it’s the only one in Tribeca, but I could be wrong.) And remember: You can see previous “Where in Tribeca…?” photos—and the answers—by clicking the Where in Tribeca…? tag at the end of this post.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Robert Ripps for identifying this as on Walker between Church and Broadway.

  1. This looks like the one on Walker, north side between Church and Broadway.

Another shepherd’s crook lamp is at Duane (northern fork) on Hudson, but with an older lamp.

  2. I recognized that location right away, because I love that lamp. Even though it’s tilting and a bit vandalized.

Beautiful lamp…Why were these beautiful lights replaced with the ugly highway lights throughout all of the city?

Wasn’t there an initiative to re-design and replace all the NYC streetlamps? Although I would half-expect the results to be even worse, but one can hope.

I searched a bit on this and found the following post, showing the exact streetlamp on Walker Street back in 1978:
