New Salad Chain Is Opening Soon

Back in June, when word trickled out about Romanian chain Salad Box‘s plan to open a New York outpost (it also has one in Miami), the owner was reticent about exactly where it would be. Now we know: the former Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect at 44 Park Place (part of 100 Church), between Church and W. Broadway. According to a tweet on Sunday, Salad Box will open within the next two weeks.

From the about page on the company’s website:

The story began in 2011, when Dan Isai had an idea to offer Romanians a new lifestyle, based on healthy food at affordable prices. Three good friends joined him in his journey: Radu Lupas, Daniel Lar and Vlad Lupas, and in April 2012, they opened the first Salad Box restaurant, located in Cluj-Napoca, the second largest city in Romania. Their salads soon became so popular that in only one year they opened another 12 restaurants. And this was only the beginning. Soon Salad Box became the third largest restaurant chain in Romania with over 50 outlets and 600 employees. In 2016 Salad Box expanded in Hungary and Algeria. In 2017 we are opening new locations in the USA and UK.

  1. Great addition to this neighborhood, which lacks various healthy alternatives.

  2. I walked by today and it looks very close to opening, and it looks very inviting. Agree that it’s a great addition!

  3. But will this Romanian company accept United States currency?
