Really surprised to see Serafina top of the list as I had a pretty mediocre meal with poor service last time I was there 2 weeks ago. Had to physically chase down waiters to get water, then bread (it was a Sunday evening so hardly packed) and the lobster ravioli was awful. Tasteless, couldn’t decipher any such substance in the mush within the pasta. I’m willing to give it another try as I’ve been to other Serafinas around town and all were quite good and hope mine was a single aberrant bad experience.
Diane, your bad experience was not unique. We had a very unfortunate and disappointing experience with the food and service, too.
Isn’t Vintners coming back? Any new word on that?
New York Vintners is opening an “indoor farm” with cooking and wine classes at 61-69 Barclay, but I don’t believe it has a retail component, which changes the situation enough that I felt comfortable qualifying it as a bummer. https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2017/03/01/seen-heard-new-york-vintners-is-opening-an-indoor-farm/
New York Vintners was a huge fail as a retail outlet. Most of the times I attempted to venture in, they were closed for an event, and the 3 times I actually got someone to open the door their cash register didn’t work so purchasing a bottle of wine was impossible. How they have stayed in business this long I have no idea. Good luck to them with the new business model. They will need it.
So bummed about Bar Cyrk. It was a hidden little unique gem. I always felt I had left Tribeca and entered somewhere else (not sure where) when I stepped foot in there. It’s a little escape that I will miss (along with the truffle oil popcorn).
