Aesop Has Closed Its Tribeca Shop

The rumor had been that Aesop’s store at 138 W. Broadway was a bit of a trial balloon, rather than a long-term investment (which explained the relatively minimal build-out). Sure enough, the skincare company has closed the store after a year and a half, reminding customers in the “valedictory note” that there’s a store nearby at the World Trade Center mall (as well as one at W. Broadway and Prince). I doubt whoever eventually moves in will keep he awesome ombre paint job, so take one last good look at it. P.S. The name is pronounced eee-sop, with a long e.

  1. That’s a shame. I always loved the ombre, and it was also not as space-confining as their other stores.

  2. Pretentious, gloomy, good riddance. How about a news-stand? A mom-and-pop convenience store? Oh that’s right, only upscale now allowed in.
