Art dealer Ales Ortuzar, formerly of David Zwirner, had been rumored to be opening his own gallery in the former Walker Supply Corp. hardware store at 61 Walker, but I never mentioned him by name because the build-out never happened. Instead, as James uncovered in the Department of Buildings paperwork, he landed instead at 9 White, most recently the site of 11 Beach’s sales office. According to his website, the focus is on “Modern, Post-War and Contemporary” periods, and the first exhibit, of work by Michel Parmentier, opens February 16.
