A Cool New Hotel Bar Is Opening Soon

The transition of the Cosmopolitan Hotel into the Frederick may not have seemed especially exciting, but that’s about to change: Its new bar, Primo’s, is shooting to debut in the next week or so. The pedigree is strong: Proprietor Aisa Shelley, who owns Mr. Fong’s and Oliver Coffee over in Two Bridges, has enlisted¬†Assembly NYC for the staff’s uniforms and Camilla Deterre (responsible for Mimi in the Village) for the interiors. According to the background material, “Primo’s twin rooms are a deluge of terrazzo tile and glazed brick walls with plush velvet seating and a grand marble fireplace highlighted by a mural by Connie Vallesse.” With offerings that include “classic cocktails, coffee cocktails, snacks and small plates,” the bar is open from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., and reservations are available for parties of six and more. (In the floor plan above, which was presented to Community Board 1 as part of the liquor license application, the star indicates the location of Primo’s.)
