Seen & Heard: Dirty Lemon Said to Be Opening Here

••• I hear that beverage company Dirty Lemon is taking the storefront at 293 Church, but I haven’t been able to confirm it (or whether it’ll be a shop, distribution center, or both). The space is still raw inside, so nothing is likely to appear anytime soon.

••• “I’m not sure if anyone else mentioned her,” emailed A., “but the best crossing guard in the city is at Greenwich and Chambers St. With her acrobatic movements, she is a sight to behold. Her name is Denise Angela and I’ve watched her now for a few months. She never misses a beat or a whistle blow to a car crossing at a red light. She is at her best in action when school is out at P.S. 234 around 3 p.m. And she’s extremely friendly.” UPDATE: “Thank everyone for your responses,” commented Angela. “My name is Angela Diniz and I have been a New York City School Crossing Guard since March/2016. I’m so honored to provide service to the community and safe crossing practices.”

••• The first-floor cornice at the Frederick hotel is finally going up. Neat to see it unpainted.

••• The windows at the former Nobu have been papered over, but only so high. Here’s what’s going on inside; it’s inconclusive.

••• Opening May 1 at Untitled gallery: The End of Love, a solo exhibition by Rebecca Leveille. Below: “Peacocks.”

  1. Denise is an inspiration! We appreciate her energetic devotion to safety.

  2. My friend lives in 105 Hudson and said the former Nobu space(s) have still not been leased. The yearly meeting is in a couple of weeks, so if there’s an update I’ll let you know.

  3. Denise better tone it down! She’s making the other crossing guards look bad.

  4. Denise is the best. I hope she will stay on–she keeps the cross way extremely safe

    • Maybe too safe. She’s giving our children a false sense of safety and the real world will be brutal to our little angels. Self-driving cars will wreak havoc on those that believe there will always be a “Denise” to protect them. Wake up, peopledom! The world is still cruel and there will always be many unattended cross walks!

      • Thanks for the morning chuckle!
