Seen & Heard: Four Shoots This Week

••• Here’s a better look at 760 Vestry’s entrance. Of course it’s gated.

••• Nice to hear that Laughing Man is carrying WellPup (and giving the treats away). From Danielle, the Tribeca resident who founded the brand: “Our dog treats are human-grade, contain whole-food and plant-based ingredients, as well as pre- and probiotics to support everyday digestion and immune health. Treats are free of all the ingredients that can cause GI distress in our dogs; gluten, corn, soy, and additives.”

••• You know how some buildings have “shaftway” signs on one column of windows? Like the New York Times, I always figured it had to do with an elevator. But while going through Daytonian in Manhattan’s entries on Tribeca buildings, this section from the post about 315 Church caught my eye—and indicated they likely pre-date passenger elevators:

Factory buildings often included interior ‘hatchways,’ or shafts by which bundles could be hoisted up. They were sometimes the cause of serious accidents, as was the case here on October 2, 1878. The New York Times reported “Jacob Schwartz, a lad 15 years old… was found in a mangled and dying condition yesterday afternoon on the first floor of No. 38 Lispenard-street, having fallen from an upper floor through the hatchway. He died before an ambulance could be summoned.”

••• Shooting today near the Square Diner: “The Icon.” Nothing online, so that’s likely a pseudonym.

••• Something identified as “HES-2551” is shooting on Warren/West on Tuesday.

••• Also on Tuesday, what would appear to be an ad campaign for Ralph Lauren is shooting on Vestry and Laight.

••• And one Wednesday: Possible Productions at W. Broadway and Thomas; it usually means the TV show “Billions.” UPDATE: “‘Billions’ wrapped their season and doesn’t start back up for a few months,” says JulieW. “Possible Productions is now ‘Ray Donovan.’ (Both on Showtime so maybe it’s the same Location Manager.) Yes, ‘Ray Donovan’ takes place in L.A.—but Liev has had them move the entire production to NYC to be closer to his kids.”

••• UPDATE: “Something with project title ‘June’ is about to shoot on Walker Street between Church and Broadway also,” says Marcus. “They’re clearing the street of all parked vehicles.” So that’s five shoots in three days.
