In the News: Park Row Reopened to Cyclists and Pedestrians

••• The New York Times spotlights Jeremy’s Ale House on Front Street.

••• “Actors Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany Sell in Tribeca and Buy in Brooklyn.” I didn’t think anything in Brooklyn cost $15.5 million. —Wall Street Journal

••• The New York Times has one of those resurgence-of-Lower-Manhattan articles that pop up every now and then. (“This southern tip of the island […] is roaring with construction of hotels, residential and office towers, restaurants and nightclubs that cater to millennials.”) It focuses, in good part, on the new Moxy Hotel on Ann Street. “The retro-themed common areas […] will spread over the entire 5,000-square-foot third floor. A basketball court will be made with floorboards salvaged from a high school gym.” Also: “Next month, the Cipriani family will open its 66-room Mr. C Seaport” in the old Best Western on Peck Slip.

••• The only interesting theft in the Tribeca Trib police blotter: “A 32-year-old Midtown resident parked his $8,500 Yamaha F209 motorcycle [in front of 2 River Terrace] in the afternoon of May 14 and returned the next the next afternoon to discover it was stolen. Surveillance video shows a van pulling up and the bike being loaded into it.”

••• “More than 10,000 square feet of Park Row, which has been closed since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, has opened to bikes and walkers. This new corridor creates a connection from Frankfort Street (at the southern end, near City Hall and the Brooklyn Bridge) to Worth Street (at the northern end, at Chatham Square and the edge of Chinatown). It additionally passes by a staircase (also closed for decades, but now scheduled to reopen), which leads up to the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian deck.” Now let cars through! UPDATE: “Park Row does not yet seem to be open, as of this morning,” said Stefanie on Facebook. Broadsheet

  1. Speaking of the police blotter, why doesn’t it cover burglaries? I know they’ve been happening in Tribeca, but they’re rarely listed in the Tribeca Trib police blotter.
