In the News: Sarah Jessica Parker Seaport Store

••• Sarah Jessica Parker will “open her first permanent Manhattan SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker contemporary-wear boutique”—that sounds so JCPenney—in the Seaport District. —New York Post

••• “‘Out of Thin Air’ is a new sound installation [at City Hall Park], through July 8, by Brooklyn-based artist Sari Carel that features the recorded breathing of dozens of people, many with obstructive lung diseases. These sounds (some recorded internally with a digital stethoscope) are not only unfamiliar, but often unsettling.” —Tribeca Trib

••• “In Soho, [the Dia Art Foundation] is reclaiming a 2500-square-foot gallery loft space at 77 Wooster Street, long rented out to retail shops. It is also installing climate control in its nearby permanent installations by Walter De Maria—’The New York Earth Room’ (1977) and ‘The Broken Kilometer’ (1979)—so they can remain open during summer months for the first time.” —New York Times

••• Eater reviews (and quite likes) La Mercerie: “Accompanying Cantabric anchovies are butter sticks laden with as much vanilla as ice cream, acting as a gently sweet counterpart to the assertively saline fish. Patrons spread sourdough slices with a lemon butter that’s as aromatic as sorbet, or a speckled buckwheat butter packing the aromas of an autumnal bonfire. But best of all is when the kitchen sends out icy Kushi oysters with pats of seaweed butter. The bivalve is refreshingly cucumber-y, while the nori-spiked dairy, smeared on a rye cracker, amps up the umami factor with a more powerful burst of brine.”
