Harry & Ida’s Luncheonette Has Closed

Thanks to Ruben for the tip: Harry & Ida’s Luncheonette has closed after just 11 months on Park Place. It was a spinoff of Harry & Ida’s on Avenue A, which is still open.

Summer is a tough time for Tribeca restaurants. I fear this and the Bennett won’t be the last to call it quits….

  1. We will miss them! Such great pastrami.

    • I mean….good or not….when you sell a modest (at best) size pastrami sandwich, potato chips & soda for $20 +tax/tip, its not going to keep you in business for long.

They also charged $30/lb for it, which is about 200% more expensive then any deli counter.

  2. Sad to see them go, but this was a self-inflicted wound, and inevitable in my view. If you didn’t like pastrami you were out of luck. The rest of the menu was so limited and so esoteric it would have been a challenge pulling it off anywhere, much less here in this neighborhood. A tough sell without a broader appeal, particularly a genre – an NYC Jewish Deli – for which people have such preconceived notions.

  3. Ridiculous concept restaurant. Not surprised it failed.
