An Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt Shop Is Opening on Greenwich

Jersey City’s Downtown Yogurt & Ice Cream is opening a combination frozen yogurt/ice cream shop in the former Macaron Café space at 303 Greenwich. “The shop will feature Bassett’s Ice Cream (America’s oldest ice cream, since 1861) and Frogurt frozen yogurt (as found at Bloomingdale’s Forty Carrots),” emailed Mark Kahn, who founded the company in 2014 with his wife, Debi. “The ‘self-serve’ format will give customers the ability to also choose from over 50 toppings.” They’re shooting to open in November.

  1. It’s about time! All summer I longed for a place we could stroll to after dinner for a scoop. I’m so happy to hear about this —and Bassett’s is great ice cream.

  2. At least it’s not a bank or another salad place.

  3. Very excited. If they will really sell same frozen yoghurt as 40 Karots, I will be in the shop every day even in the dead of winter.

  4. Forty Carrots fro-yo AND Bassett’s ice cream! This is an embarrassment of good riches for the neighborhood. I think this will also be a destination that will draw in many people from other areas. Will definitely support this business.

  5. They do such a great job in Jersey City, I’m sure this will be a hit in NYC!

  6. I’m really excited about this! I own a boutique right down the street from the jersey city location and the yogurt is so delicious…(my guilty pleasure) but I live in NY and often work on films out of the Tribeca area. Mark and Deb are the best!! Congratulations to the both of you and I’m looking forward to tasting my strawberry/original froyogurt in TriBeCa!!!

  7. ITS GREAT BUT WONT LAST LONG WITH GREEDY LANDLORDS. ITS A SAD SAD TIME FOR NYC. GREED AND MONEY WINS.

  8. I just walked past there and they are open!
