Seen & Heard: Rooftop Bar Opens This Weekend

••• After posting about Andrew Kreps Gallery’s forthcoming move from Chelsea to Tribeca, I heard from an associate director there, who said (among other things) that the entrance will be at 22 Cortlandt Alley. Also: “The bi-level, 10,000 square foot space is nearly double that of the gallery’s current space at 537 W. 22nd Street, and will be designed by Markus Dochantschi of StudioMDA. The gallery is scheduled to open in early May 2019, with an exhibition of new works by American photographer Roe Ethridge, his 9th exhibition with the gallery.” The full update is here.

••• M. sends proof that the McDonald’s at Broadway and Thomas is dunzo.

••• The bands of 75 Collective have a pop-up shop on Murray this weekend and next.

••• It’s not every day you get to watch an Orthodox Jewish comedian perform: Ashley Blaker will be at the Tribeca Synagogue on December 7 and 8. Tickets.

••• Press release: “R17, the new rooftop cocktail lounge and restaurant opening atop Pier 17 in the Seaport District this Saturday, December 1. Designed by Rockwell Group, R17, R17 will serve as a warm retreat in the winter months to escape the season’s chill before it transforms into an open-air destination in the summer, showcasing gorgeous views of the lower Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines. Centered around a blue and white marble bar, the space comfortably sits 60, accommodating guests with table and chair seating and two open fireplaces anchoring the central area. Two exterior alcoves serve as lounges for intimate group gatherings.” There’s no menu yet, but here’s a cocktail photo on what I assume is the bar. You can reserve via the R17 website (link above). UPDATE: The PR rep would like it clarified that this is from a pitch, not a press release.
