Seen & Heard: Slow Going at the Greenwich Street Hotel

••• Good work, 181 Hudson! You rarely see a residential building pretty up a sidewalk shed.

••• More of the main east facade of 91 Leonard has been revealed, along with some of the north side.

••• Is much of anything happening at the 456 Greenwich hotel project? They don’t seem to be making significant progress. (Back in October, with help from a friend, I deduced that the operator is Groupe Lucien Barrière and the property will be called Le Fouquet’s New York.) UPDATE: “456 Greenwich St was stopped due to damaging their neighbor at 458 back in July,” commented James. “Stop work order just rescinded by DoB after remedial measures were decided upon.”

••• Arita Porcelain Lab has opened on Crosby Street, in the old Spin Ceramics space.

••• Perhaps the city could insist that newsstands don’t do this kind of thing.

    Re: the new newsstands. Mainly they seem to sell candy and magazines. Actual newspapers? Occasionally the Post. I’ve never seen one with the Times.
