Seen & Heard: Tribeca Tap House has closed

GOODBYE TO TRIBECA TAP HOUSE
Their team wrote to say they have indeed closed; hopefully they can provide more details later.

HELLO FOR SURE TO SWEETGREEN
They are playing hard to get regarding deets on their new Chambers Street outlet, but it looks like they are definitely coming; will hopefully have more soon.

FOR YOUR NEXT FIRST DATE
Weather Up and The Dead Rabbit make Eater’s list of 19 best first date spots in Manhattan. (I think Pete’s Tavern might actually have been one of my mother’s first dates with my father. So there’s staying power for you.)

ALL WINE ALL THE TIME
Bushwick Daily has a nice Q&A with Terroir sommelier (and Bushwick resident) Tira Johnson, who explains how to pick a wine you’ll love. Her first tip? Drink a lot.

GOOD WORKS DEPARTMENT II
Tribeca resident Bejal Shah is helping organize the gala for Little Essentials; she’s on the board of the non-profit, which is run out of the Tribeca Pediatrics office at 15 Warren. The organization offers at-risk families living in poverty children’s supplies and parenting education to promote the health, well-being and safety of their children under 5 years of age. Their 5th Annual Taste of Brooklyn will be held on May 8 in a restored Victorian brownstone.

  1. Goodbye Tribeca Tap House and to the three weeks of paychecks you bounced on my daughter. She is a hard working college student that relied on her pay to offset some of her school expenses. Thanks Nick

  2. This place lagged in every aspect. The service, the food, the beer freshness/availability, everything was just bad. Could of been amazing given the location and space, its like a 1.5/5 star at best.

Plus reading these other comments about scummy ownership I am glad to see this place close their doors for good.

  3. I worked for this owner for a long time. He worked hard for tribeca Taphouse and it’s employees. He always put his staff first, was involved in the community, and had a balanced home life. There may have been some money issues at the end but sustaining a restaurant is not an easy task. Unfortunately mom and pop restaurants have been choked out of Manhattan. Cant wait to see a restaurant group giant come into Tribeca that will only care about margins. Hold your head high Nick, you gave it your all and made an impact on many lives. It’s a shame to see anyone on here bashing.
