In the News: Cars set on fire on Laight Street

Eyewitness News reported on Sunday that three cars burst into flames and were burnt to just shells by the end on Laight and Washington last Saturday. The reporter blamed someone smoking a cigarette near a pile of recyclables. The Trib has some dramatic pics of the firefighters at the scene.

WHOLE FOODS BODEGA?
G sent a Crain’s story noting that the Chelsea Whole Foods just branched out to what Crain’s is calling a “slimmed-down market” nears its Sixth Avenue store. Are we next? It’s called Whole Foods Market Daily and “focuses on grab-and-go snacks with self-checkout lanes. The bodega-sized offering, at the corner of 7th Avenue and West 25th Street, offers a way to pick up breakfast or lunch without navigating the cart-filled aisles of the roughly 40,000-square-foot regular Whole Foods market next door.” Eater has this review as well.

FORMER TRUMP SOHO TAX WOES
Crain’s reports that The Dominick hotel, fka Trump Soho, has “shed President Donald Trump’s name but not its troubles. A tax warrant for $35,193 was issued last month against the “Trump SoHo Hotel Condominium New York, Trading as The Dominick” state records show.”
