NEW KID: HECTOR’S JEWELRY SHOP
Hector Chamorro is not exactly new to the block. He had been working at B&H Jewelry for 15 years when approached to take over this tiny shop.

MEMORIAL GLADE HAS OPENED
The 9/11 Memorial Glade was formally dedicated last week to honor to those who suffer or have died from exposure to toxins in the aftermath of 9/11: first responders and recovery workers, survivors and community members.

SEEN & HEARD
Vinyl and CD sale at the Archive. Plus electronics recycling event in Fidi; Hudson River Park walkway is open; radical living at R&Co; lots of lavender events on Governors Island.

Piano lands in Tribeca Park today. Plus a concert this week in Washington Market Park; a rally to protest the giant building proposed for Two Bridges; free yoga, meditation and music in Freeman Plaza.

NOTED TRIBECA TO OPEN WITH NEW OWNER
The new shop will keep the name and the Counter Culture Coffee, but will also add flowers, flower arrangement classes, private parties with floral decor and other events.

Oysters coming to Canal Street. Plus De Janeiro moves in on Broadway just north of Warren; crime writer James Ellroy at the Mysterious Bookshop.

TODD SNYDER TAKING OVER LIQUOR STORE
The landmarked liquor store on the corner of White and West Broadway — which until recently was a J. Crew menswear store — has been taken over by an “American heritage” designer.
