Seen & Heard: A vision for Tribeca Cinemas building

PROGRESS AT TRIBECA CINEMAS?
Thanks to R. for sending along the rendering for the entrance to the remodeled 15 Laight – former home to Tribeca Cinemas and soon-to-be boutique offices being developed by Vanbarton. See more from The Real Deal here.

FUNDRAISING FOR GRAND BANKS MANAGER
The food and beverage director of the Grand Banks — Zak Snyder — is very ill with cancer, at the heartbreaking age of 32. As his bills mount, one of the owners of the boat that’s docked at Pier 25, Alexander Pincus, and his staff have launched a GoFundMe page to support him. It’s here, if you are able to contribute.

FILM FESTIVAL DATES SET FOR 2020
The Tribeca Film Festival will hold its 19th edition starting April 15 to April 26, 2020. Submissions for the 2020 festival will open on August 19 via the website for feature and short films; episodic and online storytelling; virtual and immersive; and branded entertainment. The festival has a new director: Cara Cusumano, who before this move programmed for the Hamptons International Film Festival and worked with the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the Brooklyn International Film Festival, IFP, POV and Chicken & Egg.

CBD FOR PETS
Spotted at the Seaport. Guess it’s no shocker. My recommendation: if you want to treat your pet to some recreational drugs, leave the dose to the pros. A friend’s dog got ahold of some pot cookies and was stoned for three days.

PEN PARENTIS ON SUMMER BREAK
The downtown organization of writers who are also parents is on a summer hiatus, but when it returns, all salons will be held at LMHQ, the Downtown Alliance’s co-working space at 150 Broadway. More on the fall schedule later.

  1. As a dog lover, I think that giving your dog pot is unconscionable. Separately, while we are on the topic, I wanted to remind people DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS INTO RESTAURANTS. The health department is now really cracking down on restaurants where dogs are visitors. You night have noticed an increase in B ratings and Grade Pendings across the city recently. The health department is often noting that dog visits will cause restauranst to lose their A ratings and subjecting restaurants to very large fines. They are co ng 8n an demanding t look at video footage of ttye restaurant. If dogs have been present, the restaurant gets in trouble. It is not fair to restaurant owners who have enough struggles staying afloat to now risk massive fines becuase others cannot obey simple rules. Leave your dogs out of the restaurants please!
