Seen & Heard: Concert on the deck of the Lilac

CONCERT ON THE DECK OF THE LILAC
The Lilac, docked at Pier 25, will host a National Lighthouse Day Concert on Wednesday, August 7, 6 to 9p. There will be musical performances by Peter Zummo, Sanna Nadews and Bergsonist. The event is free; beer and wine available at a cash-only bar. Must be 21 and over, but the younger set can no doubt hear from the swings. (The photo above is by local photographer Rory G. Kennedy.)

OK, ONE LAST MISTY-EYED SHOT
T. sent over this picture taken on Friday at 9:30a, when the line went not just out the door at Arcade Bakery, but around the corner. Sending Roger all our best wishes, and, of course, our thanks for creating such a special place and making such damn good bread. While his skills cannot be replicated, I do hope someone takes up the mantle and finds another way to draw us into that perfect little spot…

RESTAURANT WEEK GOES THROUGH AUGUST 16
The city’s semi-annual celebration of our foodie culture features more than 30 Lower Manhattan and Tribeca restaurants. Enjoy two-course lunches for $26 and three-course dinners for $42* (asterisk since some prices vary at the more expensive restaurants). Click here for the list already sorted for Downtown.

WORLD PRESS PHOTO EXHIBIT AT SEAPORT
The World Press Photo 2019 Exhibition is open through August 25, 11a-5p at 10 Corso Como in the Seaport. The exhibit is free. The winning photographs in this collection offer a snapshot of recent visual journalism from across the globe and were chosen by an independent jury that reviewed more than 78,801 photographs entered by 4,738 photographers in 129 countries. For six decades, the World Press Photo Foundation has been working from its home in Amsterdam as an independent, nonprofit organization that celebrates and promotes visual storytelling.
