Seen & Heard: Battery Dance Festival starts Sunday

BATTERY DANCE NEXT WEEK AT WAGNER
The annual Battery Dance Festival’s free outdoor performances at Wagner Park will start this Sunday, August 11, and run through August 16 from 7 to 9p each day. There is also a ticketed indoor closing event on August 17 at 6p at the Schimmel Center. There are seven dance companies performing every night. And there are workshops taking place at Battery Dance’s studios at 380 Broadway at 10:30a all week. See the schedule for the performances and workshops here, or get tickets to the final performance here.

SUMMER CONCERTS UNDER THE ARCH
Happened to catch this poster leaving CB1 last week. Today and August 21, at noon, catch concerts under the arch of 1 Centre Street, the municipal building. I gave up trying to find any real info on the concerts – the hashtag got me nowhere. You’ll have to take a chance!

SWEETCATCH POKE OPENS AT THE OCULUS
Sweetcatch Poke has opened at the WTC, with fish marinated in a special Hawaiian method. Sweetcatch Poke opened up in NYC in 2016 with two locations uptown, and now a fourth at Grand Central.

THE UNHISTORIC TOWNHOUSE FULLY REVEALED
J. sent this latest shot of 187 Franklin coming out from under its sidewalk shed, like a butterfly from a cocoon. (I know, dramatic, but couldn’t resist.)

  1. Workers are putting the scaffolding on outside the Cast Iron House on Broadway and Franklin this week. They took them down a month ago!
