Community Board 1 agendas for September

Apologies: got too comfortable with having August off from CB1 meetings and forgot that it all had to start again in September. (I bet you board members know what I am talking about here.) So if you were waiting on me, we missed the Transportation Committee on Tuesday (Frankfort Street bike lane presentation from the DOT; congestion pricing discussion; Taste of the Seaport discussion; LMCC block party discussion) and the Battery Park City Committee on Wednesday (updates on the pedestrian bridges; impacts of the giant catering venue Convene; protecting wildlife at the Lily Pond; update on the Rockefeller Park renos). Here’s the rest of the month’s agendas, with my comments in caps.

I DON’T SEE HOW THIS CAN BE ANYTHING BUT Y7 YOGA STUDIO, BUT NOT SURE WHY IT IS COMING UP NOW…
2) 105 Duane Street, application for City Planning Commission Special Permit and Certification to legalize and modify the existing design of the southern plaza- Resolution
I NEVER GAVE THIS PLAZA A SECOND THOUGHT, BUT IT’S RATHER LARGE AND CERTAINLY COULD USE A SPRUCING UP, IF THAT’S WHAT THEY ARE THINKING… (IT’S THE ENTRANCE TO TRIBECA TOWERS, NEXT TO FEDEX/KINKO’S, ON THE CORNER OF BWAY).

  1. 16 Hudson is the Brushstroke space, for Marc Forgione.

  2. 57 Leonard St – they’ve been trying to legalize this non-conforming use for years:

  3. 105 Duane is seeking to legalize and alter a POPS (privately owned public space), a space for which they got a zoning bonus but with the public would not be caught dead in. They are in violation, maybe for adding their lovely smoke stacks.

    ISN’T THIS DA MIKELE PIZZA?”

I think they meant 279 Church (old Baked space) and made a typo.

  5. With Buddha Bar and Assunta Madre, the applicant needs to provide documents for license after conditional approval. Because construction took longer than anticipated, conditional approval expired. Tetsu had the same issue as it was originally scheduled to open in 2012 but delays pushed it to 2017.

  6. Anyone have any idea what F&B at 40 Wall Street is?? The only available retail space there is the huge and (never opened) Dean & Deluca space. I don’t believe any work is currently underway there.
