Walker’s closed for Health Department violations

I was in Walker’s on Saturday and was on my way back in last night when my friend Monica and I were met with a sign on the door that the bar is closed for repairs. Before I could check it out, James sent the following violations, below, issued by the Health Department.

The Washington Market Park board has its holiday meeting there (always so fun) and we named our third child there (the crayon-inscribed list is still in the baby book) so for those reasons and more, wishing them a speedy and productive fix so we can get back to the bar.

Violations recorded in the following area (s), a Notice of Violation issued and establishment ordered closed by the Department of Health at the re-inspection conducted on 10/22/2019.

Violation points: 51
Sanitary Violations
1) Hot food item not held at or above 140ยบ F.
2) Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan.
3) Live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
4) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.
5) Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.
6) Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit.

  1. The best (cleanest) time to go to a restaurant is right after it re-opens from a Health Dept closing since the restaurant has to go through a re-opening inspection.
