The native Irish camel is an elusive beast, found only in the steaming jungles of north Roscommon. The creature is distinguishable by its two humps, which hang on either side of its back, like creels of turf. If startled, these creatures have been known to chase people home from the pub right up to their door, which they’re unable to enter – you know, because of the humps. Now, some people will tell you that pursuit of the Irish camel is a wild goose chase. But around north Roscommon other people may tell you something else altogether. Here’s a less elusive Wild Goose Chase: unaged apple brandy, pale cream sherry, dessert wine, lemongrass, cacao, fennel and mace. You can spot one on our new menu now.

NOT A PEACOCK
25 Park Row gets mentioned among the Times’ list of new buildings (sent from G.) trying to get away from the glass box and get closer to the masonry Art Deco buildings of the Upper East Side. That project, a 50-story, 110-unit building designed by CookFox Architects, is being billed as a contemporary interpretation of an Art Deco skyscraper, with available units ranging from about $1.7 million to $25 million for the top duplex penthouse. “We went for the timeless, understated elegance building,” said David Dishy, a partner at L & M Development Partners, which is building the project with the J & R Music family. Not, he noted, “a peacock.”
