Seen & Heard: Tribeca MedSpa hosting PS 89 fundraiser

SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE FOR PS 89
Tribeca MedSpa will host a fundraiser for PS 89 (owner Camille Meyer is a parent) on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 8p. Anyone is welcome — there are no tickets — and all proceeds from a silent auction and raffle will go to the school. The staff will also be on hand for free skincare consultations, and 10 percent of any bookings made that night will also go to the school. The spa is also celebrating its 13th (!) anniversary this month! Tribeca MedSpa is at 114 Hudson between Franklin and N. Moore.

LIBERATED FROM THE SIDEWALK BRIDGE
Somehow I missed that the former Darling Moon cafe (and before that Noted Tribeca) is now Cafe Atelier. The handsome building — 112 Hudson — has also finally been freed from its sidewalk bridge.

DUTCH DESIGN IN NEW YORK CITY
Colony, the design coop at 324 Canal, will present Dutch Design in NYC on view through Dec. 20 at its gallery at 324 Canal. The show features process-driven work from seven top Dutch designers; Aleksandra Gaca, Aliki van der Kruijs, Alissa+Nienke, Rick Tegelaar, Studio Jeroen Wand, Studio Kalff and Studio Nienke.

NO MORE TUNNEL AT HOUSTON – FOR NOW
Construction at Google’s new buildings on Houston and West streets started a bit back, as all you Pier 40 denizens have noticed. And M. and I were totally freaked out when we biked west on Houston for the first time with open sky above us. It really is remarkable what light and air can do for a city!

  1. While 550 Washington’s renderings don’t appear to be a monstrosity, I do feel bad for the folks at 160 Leroy that will continue to have to deal with even more construction mess next to them.

The removal of that tunnel is definitely refreshing. That section of the street was so dingy before.
