Seen & Heard: Rumble Boxing opens tomorrow

RUMBLE BOXING TK ON WEST STREET
Rumble Boxing, which has five other outlets in the city plus some in LA, San Francisco, Washington and Philly, opens tomorrow at 140 West, which is the retail space in 100 Barclay. (The space looks smaller than the original rendering.) More to come when they are up and running.

CITY WINERY OPENING IN MARCH 2020
The former Soho live music staple will open in March at its new home at Pier 57 in Hudson River Park. First shows just announced: Colin Hay and Sinéad O’Connor in April.

GLOWING ZODIACS IN LIBERTY PARK
I guess this is Instagram bait, but could be cool — someone report back. It’s a display of the 12 Chinese zodiac symbols, giant and lit from within, and is open till Saturday in Liberty Park on the south side of the memorial. Kind of wacky! I think it may be a preview for the more expansive Winter Lantern festival at Snug Harbor Cultural Center on SI…

ROXY BISO SHREDDED ART SHREDDED
The latest from Robert Janz: Up Tues. before dawn, on to Franklin/6th, in view of Roxy clock, to check on Roxy Biso. Find original Biso completely postered over, lasted 2 days. Back to studio for breakfast, get my tools (water, Brush, blade). By time returned the area next to the construction wall full of Hard Hats looking on, also a suit architect with plans in hand, supervising. Glanced my way, I nodded to him, no response. This torn poster work takes a while, couple of hours. By the time I left for lunch break, a Hard Hat had begun scrapping + shredding all the posters, starting at far end from me, across from NYAA on Franklin. Later returned to the 6 Ave site to find Hard Hat turning the corner, working his way toward me. Stood around to foto the shredding of my Roxy Biso + Garibaldi poem.

  1. The Lanterns in Liberty Park are a preview for the Lantern Festival coming to Sailors Snug Harbor in Staten Island from 11/20 – 1/12. The preview Chinese Zodiac displays are lovely and worth a visit.
