The latest at 105 Hudson

I spotted a story in The Post about the most exciting restaurants coming in 2020, and Tyger, at 1 Howard, was mentioned. This is the group from Chinese Tuxedo and Peachy’s on Doyers Street in Chinatown that first tried to set up shop at the old Bouley space at 161 Duane, where tenants upstairs successfully fought them off last spring. They then turned to 105 Hudson, the former Nobu space that has been empty for nearly three years (where did that time go?). They got the go-ahead for their liquor license there from CB1 in June.

But clearly that deal is off, and they’ve settled on just a single tiger spelled with a Y. (More on that from The Post: “’We will be challenging people’s perceptions of curry,’ Jeff Buckingham, who was born in Singapore, says of the upcoming 70-seat spot. On the menu? Fragrant curries from Malaysia and northern Thailand, which will be served with a signature chicken-and-shrimp relish, coconut and crispy betel leaves.”)

So what’s in store for 105 Hudson? I have a clue, but can’t say yet (I know, annoying). More when their plans are finalized… Either way, it will be nice to see this anchor corner of the neighborhood activated again.

Please remember this story the next time someone blames a building or retail condo/coop owner for keeping neighborhood retail space vacant.
